September at the Club: Highlights + What’s Ahead!

Make an Impact Every Month 💙

What if helping a local child was as easy as setting up a subscription?

At the Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson County, $50 provides one child with a full month of membership—a month filled with a safe place to go after school, caring adults, homework help, meals and snacks, activities, friendships, and opportunities to learn and grow.

Through monthly giving, you can make that impact happen automatically. Choose $50 a month to help provide a month of membership for a child, or choose any monthly amount that works for you. Whether it’s $10, $25, $50, or more, recurring gifts give our Club dependable support we can count on as we continue serving local kids and families.

Think of it like a subscription—but instead of another service or package arriving at your door, your monthly gift is helping create opportunities for kids right here in our community.

$50 a month. $600 a year. One child supported throughout the school year.

And you don’t have to commit to $50 to make a difference. Every recurring gift adds up, and when our community comes together, even small monthly donations can have a big impact.

Set it once. Give automatically. Make a difference every month. 💙

Building, Learning & LEGO Fun!

LEGO Robotics

Our LEGO Robotics program is back, and our members are ready to build!

Members recently jumped into their first LEGO Robotics session of the year, spending the day building, learning, exploring their robotics kits, and discovering what they can create. LEGO Robotics gives our members a fun, hands-on way to practice problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, and STEM skills—all while playing with LEGOs!

This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see what our young builders create throughout the year.

A HUGE thank you to the Duke Energy Foundation for providing the grant that makes this program possible. Their support gives our members opportunities to explore new interests, learn new skills, and discover just how much they’re capable of.

Here’s to a year full of building, learning, and lots of LEGO fun!

Building Great Futures Together

Taco Bell Foundation Grant

We are excited to share that the Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson County has been awarded a $17,000 grant from the Taco Bell Foundation!

This generous support will help us continue providing opportunities, programs, and experiences that help our members learn, grow, and reach their full potential.

And the next time you’re at Taco Bell and are asked to round up your total to support the Boys & Girls Clubs, remember that those small donations add up! Through the Foundation’s support of organizations like ours, funds are invested back into communities and help create opportunities for young people.

So when you round up, you’re helping support programs that make a difference for youth—including kids right here in our community!

Thank you, Taco Bell Foundation, for supporting our Club and our kids!

A Night of Community & Fun

9th Annual Youth Tailgate

We had a great time celebrating the 9th Annual Youth Tailgate Party before the Madison Cubs Homecoming game! This year was extra special because it marked the Boys & Girls Club’s first year taking over the event, and we were excited to continue this fun community tradition.

Even though the weather didn’t exactly cooperate with us, that didn’t stop the fun! We had a great group of local organizations and businesses show up to set up booths, hand out goodies, play games, and help create a fun evening for kids and families before the big game.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who set up a booth and everyone who stopped by to join in the fun! Your support helped make our first year hosting the Youth Tailgate Party a success!

We would also like to give a special thank you to Koehler Welding Supply for their support and for generously donating a helium tank for the event!

We’re grateful to everyone who helped us carry on this tradition, and we’re already looking forward to making the 10th Annual Youth Tailgate Party even bigger and better next year!

Out of Darkness Walk

On September 19, the Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson County set up a booth at the Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk to show our support for suicide prevention and mental health awareness in our community.

At the Club, we know how important it is for young people to have a safe place to belong, positive connections, and caring adults in their corner. Every day, we work to create an environment where kids and teens feel welcomed, supported, and valued and have a place to go after school where they can learn, have fun, build friendships, and simply be themselves.

We were grateful for the opportunity to be present at an event that brings our community together around such an important cause. Everyone deserves to know that they matter, that they belong, and that there are people in their community who care about them.

Come See Us This Halloween!

We’re getting ready for a spooktacular October! The Boys & Girls Club will be out and about at several Halloween events throughout the community, and we’d love for you to stop by and see us!

🎃 October 17 – Hanover Park Spooktacular
🍬 October 27 – Madison Pediatrics Trunk or Treat
👻 October 29 – Jefferson County 4H Trick or Treat Drive Thru
🎃 October 31 – Madison’s Harvest Festival

With four events on the calendar, we’ll have LOTS of trick-or-treaters to keep supplied! Candy donations are always welcome and would be a HUGE help as we prepare for these events. Donations can be dropped off at the Club anytime during our regular hours.

Come find our booth, say hello, and grab some candy. We can’t wait to celebrate Halloween with our community!

Flag Football is in Full Swing!

Our Flag Football season is officially underway! We kicked off the games on September 19 with our Flag Football Jamboree, where 12 games were played throughout the day!

The Jamboree was a great way to start the season and gave our players the chance to get out on the field, compete, have fun, and show off everything they’ve been working on at practice.

There’s still plenty of football left to play! We’d love to see our families and community come out, cheer on our young athletes, and help us make this a great season for all of our teams.

Come out and support our Flag Football players! View the full Flag Football schedule here!

Jeans with a Purpose

Maurices Jean Donation

During the month of August, Maurices held their Re-Jean event, collecting gently used jeans to give back to organizations throughout the community. We were so excited to receive 23 pairs of jeans for our Club!

Thanks to Maurices and everyone who donated, these jeans are getting a new home while helping support local kids and families.

We have several pairs of girls’ jeans in kids’ sizes available at the Club. If any of our members are in need of jeans, families are welcome to stop by and take a look at the sizes we have available.

A HUGE thank you to Maurices and everyone who participated in the Re-Jean event for thinking of our Club and our kids!

Employee Spotlight

Meet Sammi Cox, one of our Youth Development Professionals! Sammi has been part of the Club in one way or another for an incredible 10 years. Before joining our staff, Sammi was a Club member herself! She has now spent the last four years as a YDP, working directly with our members and helping create the same kind of positive Club experience she once had growing up. Having someone on our team who knows firsthand what it’s like to be a Club kid makes Sammi’s story extra special. She has gone from participating in Club programs to being one of the caring adults our members can look up to and count on each day. One word to describe Sammi? Compassionate! We’re so thankful to have Sammi on our team and love that the Club has been part of her story for so many years!
